Assault warrant issued for ex-Bengal Thurman
Saturday, July 12, 2008
The Erie County Sheriff's office has issued a felonious assault warrant for former Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Odell Thurman in connection with an incident that allegedly occurred May 27 at Kalahari Waterpark Resort, according to the Sandusky Register. The newspaper said Thurman was indicted by an Erie County Grand Jury, and authorities are looking for him.
Thurman is accused of punching a man in the face and breaking his jaw. "They were both guest at the resort," said Erie County Sheriff detective Bob Lippert.
Lippert said the men argued over a place in line.
Last month Thurman, a second-round pick in 2005 out of the University of Georgia, was suspended indefinitely by the NFL for violating its substance-abuse policy and will miss the 2008 season.
It's the third consecutive season Thurman, who was cut by the Bengals, will miss.
He was suspended by Commissioner Roger Goodell the last two seasons after he skipped a drug test, was arrested for drunken driving and failed to meet the league's expectations for reinstatement.
