bengals exhibition aftermath

Palmer has broken nose repaired

> Do you think Carson Palmer will be ready for the season opener?

CINCINNATI — Bengals quarterback Carson Palmer's broken nose won't stop him from starting the regular-season opener at Baltimore on Sept. 7.

Palmer underwent what the team called "a brief procedure" on Sunday morning, Aug. 24, for treatment of the injury he suffered in a 13-0 preseason loss to visiting New Orleans.

"Carson is feeling fine," Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis said. "He suffered a small crack in one of the nose bones. The bone was gently put back into place this morning under local anesthetic."

The Bengals claim the procedure took less than 10 minutes.

Palmer is listed as questionable for Thursday's preseason finale at Indianapolis and likely won't play. He'll be replaced by Ryan Fitzpatrick.

Palmer completed 11-of-16 passes for 105 yards but was sacked three times for minus-25 yards.

He was injured in the final minute of the first half when free safety Kevin Kaesviharn and defensive end Bobby McCray shared the sack that caused Palmer's bloody nose and cut lip.

Carson is ok, but quarterbacks can’t always expect an offensive line to block perfect for them. Carson needs to be a little more mobile in that pocket. He sits back in the pocket and just looks like he wants to get hit.

Tom how can you say that Carson is just an average quarterback. Everyone who comes out of USC is a star. From Ronnie Lott, O.J. Simpson, and Reggie Bush. I don’t think he’s an average quaterback on a weak team, but he’s an awesome quaterback on a team who needs to come together. Go Bengals! Go Nati!

Carson Palmer is one of the best quarterbacks in the AFC. To those who don’t think he is good, I say get a life. he has won at least 7 games every year he has been the starter for Cincinnati. I hope he is ready for the opener because i would hate to see what happens if he isn’t

No, Karma would have been if it was a former Buckeye that did it.

Since the Steelers broke his leg he’s been a losing quarterback; a nose won’t make any difference. He will still be what he is; an average quarterback on a bad team.

Does it matter? With him we are a 5 win team, without him we are a 2 win team. This season is going to be very ugly if the preseason is any indication of what lies ahead. The most alarming thing is the inconsistent play of the offensive line. As suspect as our defense has been it hasn’t looked nearly as bad as the O-line has. Not to mention no other recievers who have stepped up in Chad and T.J.’s place. Throw in a tough schedule to boot and we have 1992 all over again.

This team better get their crap together… I’ve taken allot of abuse over the years and the pre-season prima-donnas (TJ, Rudi,Chad) need to suck it up! You can have all the talent in the world but you have to be able to execute play after play. Go Bengals!

I think the better question is will those girls we call an offensive line be ready to PROTECT Carson in the Season opener. The block calling sucked!(Ghiaciuc). I hope Palmer gets off this “I love my offensive line” bull and finally say’s what we’ve known all along… “coach, after Braham retired then you traded Steinbach i lost all confidence in my line. PERIOD.” but he’ll do for his team and stand up for guys and let his knee, nose, or any other part of him get broke. what i guy! god bless

Everyone knows how tuff Palmer is he’ll be fine. He’s one of the leagues top quarterbacks and the bengals only hope at being a respectable frachise. PS Housh and Chad are pretty dang good do we just need them healthy.

This could be Palmer’s bad karma for dogging the buckeyes

If he is, he’ll be the only Bengal ready to play!

Maybe this will force the Bengals to develop a running game to keep him from dropping back so much. They fail to adhere to the Steelers successful style of running the ball and smash mouth defense. I imagine that Carson won’t be taking his offensive line to dinner anytime soon.

Does it matter ? They can’t score. And they can’t keep anyone from scoring.

For $112 million he better be playing the season opener. Stupid question!

Carson will be more than ready! The appropriate question is will the rest of the team be ready, particulary our pathetic offensive line.

It’s a broken nose, not a broken collarbone. If he doen’t play in the opener, he should consider ballroom dancing or knitting.
