Former Bengal faces trial over water park fight

SANDUSKY — An assault case against former Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Odell Thurman is slated to go to trial in northern Ohio in January.
Police say Thurman punched a man and broke his jaw while they were waiting in line at an indoor water park in Sandusky last spring.
Thurman has pleaded not guilty to felonious assault.
Prosecutors said Monday that the trial will begin Jan. 27 if they can't work out a plea deal.
Thurman is sitting out this season after he was suspended indefinitely by the NFL in June for violating the league's substance abuse policy.
He was a second-round draft pick in 2005 out of Georgia.
