Extras
This is the second straight year the Ol' Lefthander is up for the award, given annually by the Baseball Hall of Fame to broadcasters that "make major contributions to baseball." Nuxhall, 79, was a finalist for the 2007 award.
Nuxhall's longtime broadcast partner, Marty Brennaman, won the Frick Award in 2000.
"Hamilton Joe" was a broadcaster on the Reds Radio Network for 38 years (1967-2004) on WLW-AM (700). He was paired with Brennaman in 1974. Nuxhall retired from full-time broadcasting duties in 2004, but has been in the radio booth for a few games in each of the last three seasons.
Nuxhall, who was born and raised in Hamilton, resides in Fairfield.
Current Reds broadcaster Thom Brennaman, Marty's son, also is on the ballot. Thom Brennaman has 20 years of broadcasting experience with the Cubs, Diamondbacks and Reds. He also does games for FOX.
Three of the 10 finalists will be determined by fan voting at baseballhall.org throughout November. The final ballot will be announced in early December.
