XENIA, Ohio — A judge has dismissed a lawsuit filed by teachers at Antioch College who were trying to keep the school from temporarily closing.
Greene County Common Pleas Court Judge Stephen Wolaver of Xenia ruled Wednesday that he has no authority to require Antioch University, which oversees the college, to take less drastic measures to deal with the college's financial problems.
The teachers had also wanted the judge to order that the school be reopened.
The Yellow Springs college is temporarily closed amid financial problems. University trustees are negotiating with alumni about making the campus independent.
The college is the flagship of the university, which also has campuses in Seattle, Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, Calif., and Keene, N.H.
