Miami to count on Rotary Club to move voting machines

TROY — The Miami County Board of Elections thinks it can count on members of the West Milton Rotary Club to get electronic voting machines to polling places for Election Day.

The elections board on Thursday voted to accept the Rotary's proposal to deliver the machines to polling places. The elections office hired a moving company last November and in May.

In November, four polling places in Union and Concord townships opened late because the movers did not have all the machines delivered and set up the night before. The contract with the mover to deploy the machines cost $9,000 for each election.

The Rotary asked for $7,000 in its proposal to deploy all machines by the day before the election.
