Creator says christroom.com will be heavily guarded
A Parkview Nazarene parishioner, frustrated by unsafe Web profiles, launches a Christian site.

It's not everyday faith seekers can climb aboard a new social networking site configured especially for them, but that's exactly what Daytonian Nathan Driver launched on April 16.
Frustrated by deceptive, obscene and, at times, predatory profiles that masquerade as harmless chats on MySpace, LinkedIN and FaceBook, Driver created a new site, www.christroom.com, where Christians can gather in what Driver calls a "safe haven online."

"The premise behind christroom.com is this. Young Christians going to MySpace and similar networking sites are bombarded with pornographic images, e-mails and a lot of stuff they didn't sign up for," said Driver, a member of Parkview Nazarene Church in Kettering.
"This isn't restricted to any denomination. It's for anybody who wants to belong to a wholesome group. I wanted to create something where Christian youths could feel safe and still be able to network and chat with friends like the secular sites."
Driver said christroom.com will be "heavily guarded" to make sure undesirables don't contaminate the online community.
"Profiles will be checked out almost daily," he said. "The people we catch with bad intentions will be banned and reported."
Driver said users don't have to fork over a fee. All they need are an e-mail address, user ID and they're set to go.
"You can upload images, chat with real life Christians around the world, upload photos and start prayer lines.
"I'd like to get to a point where we can communicate freely with prayer chains and pray for one another even though we've never met," he said.
Driver said christroom.com is not a money-making venture and that he's not motivated by the almighty dollar. Just the Almighty.
"God has given me some talent and I'd like to just give back to him to give him the glory."
