Miami punter chosen for all-star game

Miami University punter Jake Richardson has been invited to participate in the 84th annual East-West Shrine Game to be played Jan. 17 in Houston.

The postseason all-star game will televised by ESPN2 at 4 p.m. at the University of Houston's Robertson Stadium.

Richardson, a Talawanda High School graduate, is a 2008 first-team all-Mid-American Conference selection and Miami's single-season and career punting leader.

He will play for the East All-Stars, directed by coaching legend Bobby Ross.

The West All-Stars will be coached by Gene Stallings.

Richardson is only the sixth Miami player to be chosen for the East-West Shrine Game, joining Rob Carpenter (1976), Kirk Springs (1979), Matt Cravens (1997), JoJuan Armour (1999) and Dustin Cohen (2000).
