Beavercreek grad Justin Masterson looking for MLB return

Free-agent pitcher Justin Masterson, former Indians ace, is headed to Arizona to try and restart his career, The (Cleveland) Plain Dealer reported.

The Beavercreek High School graduate, who turns 32 on March 22, will embark on a throwing program next week and agent Randy Rowle said 10 to 12 teams, including the Indians, are expected to watch Masterson throw.

He has not pitched in the big leagues since 2015 when he went 4-2 with a 5.61 ERA for Boston. He was released in August of that season and underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right shoulder, then spent the 2016 season in the Pirates system.
