Bengals don’t believe Fisher issue is career threatening

Cincinnati Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis declined to elaborate on the illness that forced the team to end right tackle Jake Fisher’s season on Wednesday, saying it is “personal to Jake.”

But Lewis added that doesn’t believe it’s something that will threaten his career.

“I don’t think so,” Lewis said. “The procedure he needs to have sounds worse than likely it probably is.”

Lewis said Monday he didn't think the issue was serious, but the Bengals placed Fisher on the Non-Football Injury/Reserve list Wednesdays and re-signed tackle Eric Winston .

“He saw another physician (Tuesday),” Lewis said. “It didn’t change, but just the fact that after the procedure, the medication he needs, you wouldn’t want to be playing a contact sport for a period of time.”
