Billings-to-Dayton pipeline to continue for Reds prospects

Many Dayton Dragons will continue to start their time in the Cincinnati Reds organization as Billings Mustangs.

The parent club announced a two-year extension of their player development contract that will push the relationship between the Reds and Billings to 45 seasons by the time it’s complete.

Billings is the rookie-level affiliate for the Reds while the Dragons are the low-Single-A team for the organization.

“The Reds are extremely excited to announce this PDC extension and couldn’t be prouder of our affiliation with the Billings Mustangs,” Reds Director of Player Development Jeff Graupe said in a statement. “The entire Billings community creates an atmosphere that is unrivaled in the Pioneer League, and I don’t believe there is a better place for our youngest players to be first introduced to Minor League Baseball and fans of the game. We look forward to sending our players and staff to Billings for many years to come and are excited to try to bring another championship to Billings this fall.”

While the Dragons have struggled this season, the Mustangs won the North Division first-half title in the Pioneer League this season.
