It’s business over pro football for former Centerville/Purdue standout

Jake Replogle, an honorable mention All-Big Ten defensive lineman from Purdue and a Centerville grad, has decided not to pursue a career in pro football.

The former Elk told BlackandGold.com he intends to pursue a business career instead.

“It has been an honor to represent Purdue University these past four years,” Replogle said in a statement provided to the website. “I am extremely thankful for the support of my family, teammates, coaches, fans and everyone in Purdue nation.

“As for my future, I’ve decided to pursue a career in business, putting my degree to good use and look to advance my education hopefully in the not too distant future. I will not be involved in the upcoming NFL draft. I will forever be thankful for the opportunities that football has provided me and am eager to apply the lessons that football has taught me going forward. Boiler up! Hail Purdue!”

The Boilermakers defensive MVP did not elaborate on his choice, but the site reports he missed several games with what was believed to be a head injury during his senior season.

At 6-5, 289 pounds, Replogle almost certainly would have gotten a chance to make an NFL roster next year even if he was not drafted.

He finished his college career with 35 tackles for loss, including 7.5 sacks.

Football has been a family business for the Replogles as three of Jake’s brothers, Adam, Tyler and Mike, all played for Indiana.
