Butler’s Brittany Ward transferring to Dayton

Ward, one of nation’s top recruits in 2015, will be eligible to play in January 2018

Brittany Ward, a 6-foot-1 guard who averaged 9.8 points for the Butler Bulldogs last season, will transfer to the University of Dayton, UD announced Friday. She will be eligible to play in January next season.

Ward, a graduate of Indianapolis Pike High School, was the No. 34 recruit in the nation in 2015, according to ESPN’s HoopGurlz rankings. She was a three-time all-state selection who scored 1,498 points in her career and grabbed 1,000 rebounds.

"I'm very excited to have Brittany joining our family," said UD coach Shauna Green in a press release. "Her one year of experience in the Big East will be beneficial as she transitions into our program. She brings versatility, toughness, and a scoring mentality and I can't wait to have her here at UD."

Ward started all 31 games for Butler last season and ranked third on the team in scoring. She also averaged 7.5 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game.

Ward played in two games for Butler this season because of an injury. Butler announced her transfer on Dec. 27.
