High School Basketball: Is your team ranked in first girls state poll?

Carroll (Division II) and Minster (D-IV) were ranked No. 1 in their respective divisions for the first Associated Press state high school girls basketball polls that were released on Tuesday night.

Carroll (11-1) drew five first-place votes to hold a slight edge over No. 2 Ottawa-Glandorf in a division that was loaded with area teams. Two-time defending D-II state champ Alter (9-2), which defeated visiting Carroll 69-49 on Saturday , was No. 3. Trotwood-Madison (9-2) was No. 4 and Tippecanoe (8-2) No. 6.

Minster (9-0) shared the D-IV top spot with Waterford. Russia (11-1) and Tri-Village (10-0) followed in the No.'s 3-4 positions.

Mason (10-0), the D-I state runner-up last season, drew a state-best 11 first-place votes and was No. 1 in D-I. Lakota West (11-1) was No. 3 and Springboro (10-2) No. 9 . West won the D-I state title in 2015.

Defending state champ Columbus Africentric (9-1) was No. 1 in D-III. Midwest Athletic Conference rivals Versailles (11-1) and Fort Recovery (8-0) were No.’s 4-5, joining conference member Minster among the state’s top 10.

Voting was done by state-wide media who subscribe to the AP. The first boys state polls were released on Monday night.
