Check out the nicknames the Reds will wear on Players Weekend

Baseball is often accused of being old-fashioned, set in its ways or even anti-fun.

The upcoming “Players Weekend” figures to punch a bunch of holes in those complaints, though.

As part of the festivities Aug. 25-27, they will wear jerseys with nicknames on the back instead of their real names.

Here are a few via Reds.com:

  • Joey Votto: "TOKKI 2"
  • Zack Cozart: "COACH"
  • Billy Hamilton: "BONE"
  • Homer Bailey: "HOMER"
  • Adam Duvall: "DUVY"
  • Raisel Iglesias: "EL CICLÓN"
  • Scooter Gennett: "RYAN"
  • Jesse Winker: "WINK"
  • Luis Castillo: "LA PIEDRA"
  • Patrick Kivlehan: "BELIEVE"

Note Homer Bailey and Scooter Gennett are taking opposite approaches here as Gennett went with his real name while Bailey – ever the stubborn Texan, eh? – is just sticking with his nickname.
