Silverbacks look to snap four-game slide
Saturday, April 19, 2008
Former Ohio State quarterback Stanley Jackson poses the opposition for the Miami Valley Silverbacks tonight, April 19, in a Continental Indoor Football League game at Troy's Hobart Arena.
Jackson, in his second season with the Marion Mayhem after seven years playing Canadian football, is second in the league in rushing — at age 33.

"He's getting up there in age, but he'll surprise you with how athletic he is," Silverbacks coach Carl Allen said. "He's extremely smart, doesn't make mistakes and can really hurt you. He's just so elusive."
The Mayhem, coached by former OSU running back Pepe Pearson, are 3-2, third in the CIFL's Athletic Conference Western Division. The Silverbacks, after winning their opener 56-13 against New Jersey, have dropped four straight, including their last two home games.
The Silverbacks, though, have the league's top passer in quarterback Jim Oliver and top two receivers, Maurice Lee and Donta Greene.
Lee and Greene, both nagged by ankle injuries, have been cleared to play, as has Oliver, who sat out last week with a hip problem.
"Now would be a good time to turn this around," Allen said. "We're pretty confident, actually, about this week."
Mia Coleman, a Wayne High School student who advanced to Hollywood as an American Idol contestant, will sing the national anthem.
