1. Chicago actually scored. After being handcuffed for nine innings in Game 1, the visitors wasted little time against Indians starter Trevor Bauer. Anthony Rizzo drove in Kris Bryant in the top of the first to give the Cubs a 1-0 lead.
2. Middletown native Kyle Schwarber added another run to the lead with an RBI single in the top of the third inning. That scored Rizzo.

3. Rizzo raced home with another Cubs run in the fifth inning when Cleveland right fielder Lonnie Chisenhall had trouble with his footing in the outfield, and Schwarber had another run-scoring hit. Chicago pushed the lead to 5-0 on a bases-loaded walk by Addison Russell.

4. Chicago starter Jake Arrietta took a no-hitter into the sixth inning, when Jason Kipnis had the first knock of the night for Cleveland.
