Dayton Flyers rally to beat Davidson in OT

The Dayton Flyers pulled off one of their most dramatic victories of the season, rally from 13 points down in the final minutes and then beating Davidson 89-82 in overtime Friday at Belk Arena thanks to one of the great performances in the career of Scoochie Smith.

Star of the game: Smith scored 17 points and made all three of his 3-pointers in overtime. He did it all with four fouls. He picked up his fourth without about five minutes left in the second half.

Stat of the game: The Flyers made 31 of 45 free throws.

Key play: Xeyrius Williams tied the game on a layup with 35 seconds left to send the game to overtime.

Big run: Down 70-57 with 7;35 to play, Dayton went on a 15-2 run.

Big picture: Dayton (23-5, 14-2) won its eight straight game and moved a half game ahead of VCU, which plays Saturday.

Xeyrius Williams scored 13 points to lead the Dayton Flyers to a 46-45 halftime lead over Davidson on Friday at Belk Arena.
