Eifert upgraded to questionable for Browns game

Cincinnati Bengals tight end Tyler Eifert has been upgraded to questionable for Sunday’s game against Cleveland.

The questionable designation in NFL parlance means a player has a 50-50 chance of playing, but Eifert’s odds would seem to be much greater. While every injury and situation is different, the Bengals have had 12 players listed as questionable this year, and all 12 have been active on game day.

Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis said the team will make a decision on Eifert — who took his first team snaps of the season in practice Thursday and was listed as a full participant for the first time Friday — on Sunday before clarifying that it would not be a “game-time decision.”

Lewis made it a point to say that Eifert has made more than just the last two practices to get ready and that the decision will be based on the needs at other positions as the Bengals go into the game with an otherwise healthy roster.

“He’s had time when he’s been out here with us and done things prior to his back getting sore,” Lewis said. “He’s been to more than just a couple (practices). I think he feels good about things, and we’ll just see how we are with the rest of everybody else and what’s the best thing.”

Eifert was listed as out for the first two games against the Jets and Steelers as he recovered from an ankle injury. He was upgraded to doubtful for the Broncos and Dolphins before suffering a back injury in the first practice after the Miami game, leading to him being ruled out for the Cowboys and Patriots games.
