Football roundup: Hamilton drops road decision to Highlanders

Senior quarterback Eric Jackson turned in another huge performance Friday night, but it wasn’t enough to keep Hamilton High School’s football team from dropping a 42-32 decision at Oak Hills.

Jackson ran 31 times for 180 yards and three touchdowns while completing 16 of 27 passes for 114 yards for Big Blue, who fell to 4-4 overall and 1-4 in the Greater Miami Conference.

Zach Reese added 115 yards and a TD on 19 carries for HHS, and Trace Sword kicked a 29-yard field goal and three extra points. Gage Retherford had a two-point conversion reception.

Jacob Woycke was 23 of 42 for 279 yards and three touchdowns for the Highlanders (4-4, 3-2). Kyle Montag rushed 26 times for 164 yards and three scores.

Franklin 63, Monroe 35: The host Wildcats continued their perfect season, elevating their record to 8-0 overall and 4-0 in the Southwestern Buckeye League Southwestern Division. The Hornets fell to 2-6, 2-3.

Fenwick 38, Purcell Marian 7: The Falcons' defense limited the Cavaliers to 87 total yards as the hosts boosted their record to 4-4 overall and 4-1 in the Greater Catholic League Coed North Division.

Amarius Gates, Jake Denning, Keegan Corbett and Alan Nix had rushing touchdowns for Fenwick, and Sam Simendinger threw for 142 yards and found Jamey Colts with a scoring toss. Maggie Daigle chipped in a 19-yard field goal.

Purcell dropped to 3-5, 1-4 GCLC Central.

Alter 48, Badin 0: The visiting Rams were held to 75 total yards and suffered their 19th straight loss to the Knights.

Lavassa Martin carried the ball 18 times for 78 yards for Badin, which fell to 2-6 overall and 1-4 in the Greater Catholic League Coed Central Division.

Holden Rushing scored two touchdowns and Ryan Markoff hit Jack Mochty twice for scores for Alter (8-0, 5-0 GCLC North).

Lakota East 21, Mason 17: Dylan Fry and Silas Ingram ran for touchdowns and Fry hit Tyler VanFossen for a score as the host Thunderhawks improved to 4-4 overall and 3-2 in the Greater Miami Conference.

VanFossen paced East’s ground attack with 79 yards on 21 carries.

Jake Harris threw for 138 yards and a TD for the Comets (5-3, 3-2).

Madison 51, Dixie 25: Cameron Svarda scored on runs of 71, 45, 17, 60 and 31 yards as the visiting Mohawks lifted their record to 5-3 overall and 2-2 in the Southwestern Buckeye League Buckeye Division.

Ryan Friend and Tyler Baumgartner also had TD rushes for Madison. Logan Alward booted a 37-yard field goal and six extra points.

The Greyhounds are 4-4, 2-2.

Little Miami 42, Ross 7: Zach Arno threw an 8-yard touchdown pass to Dylan Zimmerman for the visiting Rams, who dropped to 2-6 overall and 0-5 in the Southwest Ohio Conference.

The Panthers are 3-5, 1-4.

Miamisburg 55, Lebanon 20: Quarterback Dakota Allen ran for two touchdowns and Xander Haley kicked two field goals for the host Warriors, who fell to 6-2 overall and 1-1 in the Greater Western Ohio Conference National West Division.

Jake Neatherton ran for more than 200 yards and three touchdowns for the Vikings (6-2, 1-1).

Cincinnati Country Day 31, New Miami 8: The host Vikings saw their record fall to 0-8, while the Indians improved to 5-3. No other details were reported.
