Former Buckeye Cris Carter: 'Smash Oklahoma’

Middletown native speaks at Skull Session

Cris Carter guest starred at Ohio State’s tradition pregame Skull Session on Saturday, two hours before the No. 2 Buckeyes played No. 5 Oklahoma in the home opener at Ohio Stadium.

The Middletown High School graduate and Ohio State legend Carter addressed a packed St. John Arena, taking the microphone after head coach Urban Meyer and defensive end Tyquan Lewis.

“Over 30 years ago, I made one of the best decisions of my life,” Carter said, “and that was to decide to play my football for The Ohio State University. Over 30 years ago this week, I ran out onto that field for the first time, and after all my years of playing football, I never experienced the feeling I felt playing in front of you. This is all I ask of you: to give the 2017 Buckeyes the same type of welcome. Go Buckeyes! Smash Oklahoma!”

Defensive coordinator Greg Schiano also addressed the crowd.

“We're blessed to be here tonight, every last one of us,” Schiano said. “Coach Meyer has been talking to our team. He has been telling our team about doing your job, and if each player does their job — 11 pieces strong — that play’s going to be a beautiful play, and when we add up 11 pieces, it’s going to be a bunch of beautiful plays. And if there’s one thing we need from you, we need that 12th piece tonight! We need you fans! Twelve pieces to every play and we’re 2-0 at the end of the night! Go Bucks!”
