Former Dayton Flyers star Devin Oliver to play in Slovenia

Former Dayton Flyers forward Devin Oliver announced Monday he will play professional basketball in Slovenia this season.

Oliver will play with BC Union Olimpija in Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia. That’s about a 2½ drive northeast from Venice, Italy, and not far from the Adriatic Sea.

Oliver, of Kalamazoo, Mich., posted a video to Instagram of him and his sister Maya announcing the news. He wrote, “So excited to have the opportunity to play for such a historically respected club and compete in this league as well as play for a EuroCup team. Heard nothing but good things about this city and team! So excited to start another journey and see a new part of the world. Baby sister said we are good, so it’s safe to say we are all good!”

This will be Oliver’s third season overseas. After leading the Flyers to the Elite Eight in 2013-14, his final season, he played with Limburg United in Belgium in 2014. Last season, he played with Maccabi Kiryat Gat in Israel and with SPO Rouen in the France-Pro A league.
