Former Flyer Oliver to return to Slovenia

Signs one-year extension to play for defending champs

Former Dayton Flyers forward Devin Oliver will return to Slovenia for the second straight season, signing Tuesday with Union Olimpija, the team he helped lead to the league championship last season.

Oliver, 25, is a 2014 University of Dayton graduate. He averaged 13.8 points, 7.2 rebounds and 2.5 assists last season. He was on campus in June and said he was hoping to sign a bigger contract this season. According to his post on Instagram, he got the maximum deal.

“Very excited about the team we have,” Oliver wrote on Instagram. “Going to be a great year. Can't wait to get back to one of my favorite cities, Ljubljana, to get back to work. This is the bag year! God's plan is already set, and I fully believe in his plan for me. This is where I'm supposed to be this season.”

Union Olimpija plays in the capital of Slovenia. That’s about a 2½ drive northeast from Venice, Italy, and not far from the Adriatic Sea.

Oliver played with former UD teammates Vee Sanford and Dyshawn Pierre last weekend in Las Vegas, Nev., in The Basketball Tournament. Their team, the Broad Street Brawlers, lost in the second round.

Sanford will play next season in France. Pierre will play in Italy with

Dinamo Sassari.

Former Flyer Kevin Dillard will play in Greece with PAOK, the team Jordan Sibert played for last season.
