Green listed as limited, but teammates say he’s playing Saturday

Cincinnati Bengals Pro Bowl wide receiver A.J. Green was not in the locker room during the period open to the media to talk about his possible return from a hamstring injury Saturday against Houston, but his teammates talked for him.

“If you look at a lot of the guys around the league, their team out of the playoffs, injured hamstring, they would have shut it down, but even though we won’t make the playoffs he’s still fighting, rehabbing his tail off and he’s finally going to be back this week,” wide receiver Brandon LaFell said.

Quarterback Andy Dalton also spoke in the affirmative before changing directions.

"We're obviously not playing for the playoffs but he did whatever he could to get," Dalton said before catching himself, continuing with "to hopefully get back this week.

“It shows what kind of person and teammate he is,” Dalton said.

Green, who was voted to his sixth consecutive Pro Bowl on Tuesday, has missed the last four games the hamstring injury he suffered on the second play of the Buffalo game Nov. 20.

With 66 catches for 964 yards, he is 36 yards shy of a sixth consecutive 1,000 season. Randy Moss is the only player in NFL history to record 1,000 receiving yards in the first six years of his career.
