Hartsock: Troy Trojans seek second straight postseason trip

The rebirth of football at Troy has been a rather quick process. The Trojans went two games deep into the playoffs a year ago, and even though they lost some talented seniors, this group is ready to take the next step.

“The nice thing we have with our program right now is we don’t have to rebuild, we’re just reloading,” coach Matt Burgbacher said. “We’ve got young guys out there who are ready and chomping at the bit to be that guy.”

Last year’s trip to the postseason was the first time in more than a decade for the Trojans.

“We’re just trying to have energy and positivity,” senior linebacker John Wehkamp said. “We’re investing in ourselves this season.”

Troy opens the season at Trotwood. The Trojans hold a two-game winning streak in the series.
