High School Football roundup: Trotwood rolls past New Richmond

Trotwood rolled to a 47-10 win over New Richmond in a Division III, Region 12 semifinal at Mason High School on Saturday.

Raveion Hargrove made the most of his first carry of the game, sprinting 60 yards to put the Rams on the board.

Markell Stephens-Peppers hit Caleb Johnson, Dallas Daniels and Ravon Garrett on TD passes, Daylon Duverglas returned a blocked punt for a score and Hargrove added a 5-yard scoring run to give Trotwood a 41-3 lead at the half.

With a running clock going through the second half, William McDaniel added a TD run to cap the scoring for the Rams.

Trotwood (10-2) will play St. Marys Memorial next week in a regional final.

Cin. Hills Christian Academy 45, Milton-Union 28: Milton-Union's rally fell short after CHCA scored 39 unanswered points to start the game in a Division V, Region 20 semifinal at Miamisburg High School. Zach Vagedes scored on a QB sneak just before the half to put the Bulldogs on the board. Vagedes connected with Blake Smith on a 14-yard TD pass in the third quarter that cut the deficit to 25 points but CHCA answered with a score and MU trailed 45-14 entering the final quarter. Krue Thwaits and Zac Shields each had TD runs in the fourth quarter but that was all the scoring for the Bulldogs. Milton-Union finished 8-4. CHCA (12-0) advances to play defending state champion Coldwater.

Fort Recovery 42, Covington 14: Fort Recovery ran away in the second half in a Division VII, Region 28 semifinal at Piqua High School. The Indians were trying to extend a 14-7 lead thanks to scoring runs from Jason Roessner and Will Homan when the Buccs picked off a pass and returned it 57 yards for a score with 39 seconds to play in the half. FR put together a 30-second scoring drive that ended in a 21-yard TD pass from Caleb Martin to Roessner. Roessner would score his third touchdown on a run and Will Homan added two more scoring runs for the Indians in the second half. Fort Recovery (8-4) will face Minster next Saturday. Covington finished 11-1.

Minster 41, Upper Scioto Valley 8: Jon Niemeyer returned the opening kickoff 82 yards for a touchdown and Minster (8-4) cruised the rest of the way in this Division VII, Region 28 semifinal at Wapakoneta High School. Bryce Schmiesing had three touchdowns, Jared Huelsman had a scoring run and Alex Oldiges returned a fumble 24 yards for a score. Huelsman also tossed a TD pass.
