Baseball, softball highlights for March 29

Baseball

Vandalia Butler 5, Edgewood 0: Freshman Braedon Norman fired a no-hitter in his first varsity start, walking two and striking out five. Both ballclubs were held scoreless through the first six innings before the Aviators (2-0) put up five runs in the top of the seventh highlighted by Torin Fletcher's two-run double.

Beavercreek 15, Graham 1: Jackson Tedder allowed one hit and struck out 13 in the Beavers' home opener.

Fenwick 10, Ross 0: Jon Snyder threw a complete game, 5-inning no-hitter.

Fairborn 8, Tecumseh 2: Jake Neece got the win. Jacob Webb went 3-for-4 with a triple to lead Fairborn (2-1). Hunter Hensley doubled and drove in both runs for the Arrows (0-3).

West Carrollton 4, Northridge 0: Austin Tipton struck out 8 in the complete game shutout. Alex Smith drove in two runs for the Pirates (2-0).

Milford 3, Centerville 2, 8 inn.: The Elks (0-2) dropped their second straight walk-off extra-inning affair. Myles Edwards had a double and 2 RBIs for Centerville.

Miamisburg 2, Christian County (Ky.) 1: Cameron Johnson struck out 10.

Fairmont 10, Northmont 0: Deaunte Fleming broke open a scoreless game in the fourth with a 2-run single with the bases loaded. The Firebirds put the game away in the sixth, keyed by a bases-clearing double off the bat of Chaney Morgan.

Chaminade Julienne 13, Sidney 2: Shawn Steffan had 3 hits, 3 RBIs, and 3 stolen bases in the Eagles' win at Sidney. Mark Barhorst earned the win, scattering two hits over five innings.

Carroll 9, Mentor Lake Catholic 7: The Patriots opened the season with a win at a game played at Coastal Carolina University. Carroll jumped out with seven runs in the second inning, but needed help from relief pitcher Jordan Flynn, who recorded a save, striking out the last batter of the game with the bases loaded. Jake McMahan led the way with three hits, including a triple, and 2 RBIs.

Arcanum 7, TV South 0: Connor Pohl homered and struck out 15 for the Trojans (2-2).

Oakwood 12, Monroe 8: Brock Gorman launched a home run, and Brian Erbe and Alex Neff each had a pair of hits and scored three times for Oakwood (1-2).

Softball

Fairmont 10, Carroll 5: Fairmont's Shelby Tharps went 4-for-5 with a home run. Melanie Grant smacked a double and a triple and drove in three for the Firebirds (1-0). Emma Hughes and Camryn Joseph each had 2 RBIs for the Patriots (0-1).

Kenton Ridge 10, Springfield 0: Mykee Holtz wrapped a pair of doubles and added a triple to lead the Cougars' offensive attack. Carly Turner struck out 10.

Miamisburg 6, Kings 4: Emily Kepple belted a two-run home run in the seventh inning to secure the Vikings' first win. Sarah Wright struck out 9 to pick up the win.

Fort Loramie 8, Coldwater 5: Julie May homered to lead the Redskins (2-0).

Dixie 15, CJ 4: Freshman McKinlee Ruppert went 4-for-4 with 3 RBIs to lead Dixie (3-0).

Arcanum 13, TV South 0: Abbie Bruns hurled a no-hitter for Arcanum. Mackenzie Sharritts homered and drove in four runs.
