Jake Replogle of Centerville honored by Purdue, Big Ten

Centerville High School graduate Jake Replogle has been named Purdue University’s male winner of the prestigious Big Ten Medal of Honor for 2017.

Replogle was a stalwart on the Boilermakers defensive line during his football career, playing 39 games and registering 158 tackles, including 35 for loss and 7.5 sacks.

He was an honorable mention All-Big Ten pick last season and was voted by teammates as MVP.

A 6-foot-5, 285-pound defensive tackle, he likely would have been a second-day NFL draft pick. However, Replogle announced in January that he would not pursue an NFL career. GoldandBlack.com reported he missed all or parts of five games as a senior because of a head injury. Replogle would not confirm that.

He was the last of four brothers who all excelled in football and other sports at Centerville. Older siblings Adam, Tyler and Mike all played football at Indiana.
