Coombs coached cornerbacks and was known as one of head coach Urban Meyerâs top recruiters after being hired away from a job at the University of Cincinnati.
He coached four Buckeyes who were taken in the first round of the NFL draft, including three in the last two years.
Prior to his stint at UC, the University of Dayton graduate was an ultra-successful high school coach, most notably at Colerain.

Coombs is the third current or former Ohio State assistant reportedly targeted by new Titans head coach Mike Vrabel, who is a former Buckeyes player rand assistant himself.
Quarterbacks coach Ryan Day was said to be considering a move to the pros before it was announced he has been promoted to offensive coordinator.
On Sunday, there were reports Ed Warinner was going to join Vrabelâs staff just one day after he agreed to leave Minnesota to become an assistant for Jim Harbaugh at Michigan.
However, those reports were later walked back, and Warinner still lists âUniversity of Michiganâ on his Twitter bio.
