Marvin Lewis addresses defensive dominance at Monday’s practice

Speaking at his weekly press conference Wednesday afternoon, Cincinnati Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis addressed Monday's practice where the defense seemed to wreck nearly everything the offense was trying to do.

“It was good that they had to understand the situation of where that particular drill was and what the focus was to make sure we get re-focused correctly when they watched the tape after practice Monday, because they weren’t at their sharpest,” Lewis said of the offense.

“And it kind of snowballs, all the way from coaching to the quarterback to the skill guys to the line and all the way through. We’ve got to do a better job than where we were on Monday with it.”

The defense recorded multiple sacks and interceptions, which in turn led to dropped snaps, false starts and alignment confusion by the offense.

“There were a lot of things going on with different looks and the offense and where they are in installation and the things they’re working on, it doesn’t sometimes match up with the defense,” Lewis said.
