Miami football adds one more very special recruit for this season

The Miami RedHawks added 20 high school seniors and one special 7-year-old on National Signing Day this year.

Wait, what? Isn’t that against the rules.

Well, Quintin Richardson is worth making an exception for.

The school announced the son of former RedHawk Jake Richardson has joined the program as he continues his battle against Philadelphia Chromosome-Positive Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, an aggressive type of leukemia characterized by the presence of too many lymphoblasts or lymphocytes in the bone marrow and peripheral blood.

Although he is in remission, Richardson will still receive maintenance treatments for the next two years – and he won’t do it alone now that he is an honorary member of his dad’s alma mater’s team.
