Nebraska quarterback leaves game with injury

Tommy Armstrong carted off field in second quarter.

Nebraska quarterback Tommy Armstrong left Ohio Stadium in an ambulance after suffering an apparent head or neck injury in the second quarter Saturday.

Armstrong was tripped up along the sideline in front of the Ohio State Buckeyes bench. Trainers took great care attending to him as the game was delayed for about 20 minutes. They flipped him over from his chest to his back at one point.

Armstrong was put on a backboard and taken by a cart to an ambulance. He gave a thumbs-up as the crowd chanted his name. According to a statement by Nebraska, Armstrong was briefly unconcious and was moving all extremities.

At that point, the Buckeyed led 24-3. Armstrong is a senior who ranks third in the Big Ten in total offense (272.9 yards per game).
