Reds to play game against top prospects in Dayton

The Reds are coming back to Dayton next spring.

The organization announced Thursday morning the Dragons will host its Futures Game between the top prospects from Cincinnati’s minor leagues against the major-league team at Fifth Third Field at 1:35 p.m. on April 1. The Reds open the season Monday, April 3, at home vs. the Phillies.

This will be the second Futures Game to be played in Dayton.

The first was in 2009, a game the big-league team won 9-6 as Edwin Encarnacion homered for the Reds and Todd Frazier went deep for the Futures Team.

Season-ticket holders for the Dragons as well as the club’s corporate partners and suite holders will get the first chance to buy tickets for the game.
