Reds prospect Hunter Greene on Dayton: ‘I’ll have a great time out there’

Cincinnati Reds prospect Hunter Greene doesn’t know for sure if he will be pitching in Dayton this season, but he knows about Dragons baseball.

"I guess they sell out every game," Greene told MLB Network (via MLB.com). "There should be a good crowd and a lot of support from the fans, which is great to see. I'll have a great time out there, meet some new guys and go win as many games as possible."

If Dayton’s Single-A squad is known for anything, it is drawing fans. The club sold out every game since Fifth Third Field opened in 2000

Greene was the No. 2 pick in the MLB draft last June.

Reds farm director Jeff Graupe told MLB.com the club has not made a final decision on where Greene will begin this season, but Dayton would be the next logical step after he made his pro debut in rookie ball in Billings, Mont., last season.

The California native has already been featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated and described as “the LeBron James of baseball.”

To be the latter, he will have to do more than excel on the field – and Greene seems to know that.

The teenager spent the first weekend of 2018 holding his first Hunter Greene Baseball Fest in Inglewood, Calif., to benefit youngsters in the area.

Eric Davis, a Reds legend who also hails from California, was among those who showed up to lend support.
