Report: Gone Billy gone? Giants showing interest in Reds CF Hamilton

Update Dec. 12, 5:38 p.m.: Chances of Billy Hamilton taking his all-world speed and glove to another team are growing, according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.

The entire Reds outfield is getting shopped, with multiple teams interested, but Hamilton is the player drawing the most attention and the Giants giving the most.

The Reds are wanting room at one of the corner outfield spots for Jesse Winker, who was impressive last year in 47 games and 137 plate appearances, hitting .298 with seven home runs and 15 RBIs with a .375 on-base percentage.

Monday Dec. 11, 5:50 p.m.: Cincinnati Reds fans dreading the idea of seeing Billy Hamilton in another uniform might be in store for another uncomfortable offseason.

Rosenthal reported prior to the start of MLB's winter meetings Monday that the speedy outfielder "is the player generating the most interest in trade discussions."

There’s good news for folks hoping their Hamilton jerseys don’t become throwbacks any time soon though:

So, will the Reds trade him? Teams will deal any player for the right offer, but the Reds are in no particular rush to move Hamilton, whom MLBTradeRumors.com projects to earn $5 million this season in the second of his three years of arbitration.

Rosenthal mentioned the Mets as a team that has had interest in Hamilton in the past while the Giants, Mariners and Rangers could be in the market for center fielders.

Meanwhile, Hamilton might not be the only outfielder who could get a new address in the offseason.

The Boston Globe's Ben Cafardo identified Adam Duvall as someone the Red Sox could find interesting.

Duvall is the most accomplished of the four players Cincinnati has to play three spots in the outfield in 2018, but he is also older than Hamilton, Scott Schebler and Jesse Winker.
