Relive last time the Reds beat the Indians when down to their last out

If you loved watching the Cincinnati Reds come back to beat the Cleveland Indians on Wednesday night, double your pleasure with this factoid from Elias.

Billy Hamilton’s mad dash from first base all the way home on a single to score the winning run last night marked the second time the Reds beat their foes from Northeast Ohio when down to their last out.

The first was one of the most memorable moments in Great American Ball Park history.

On June 30, 2006, the Indians took a 7-0 lead through eight innings and were still up 8-4 heading to the bottom of the ninth.

After Javier Valentin knocked in a run and made the second out of the inning with a grounder, Ryan Freel and Felipe Lopez walked to load the bases.

Adam Dunn, “the Big Donkey”, stepped up to the plate against Cleveland closer Bob Wickman and crushed a line drive into the bullpen in right field for a walk-off grand slam that sent GABP into pandemonium.

Dunn hit 461 other home runs in his major-league career, but there was none more dramatic than that one.
