Report: Dayton Flyers hosting recruit from Baltimore

Anthony Grant’s efforts to remake the Dayton Flyers basketball roster on the fly continue.

National basketball recruiting analyst Julius Kim reported Wednesday morning Grant, UD’s new coach, was hosting Obadiah Toppin for an official visit.

Toppin is a 6-foot-9 senior at Mt. Zion Prep in Baltimore, Md., and one of the best players still available in the class of 2017.

Per 247Sports, he also has offers from Illinois, Mississippi State and Rhode Island.

Grant, who was hired to replaced Archie Miller earlier this month, has four scholarships open and could fill them with high school seniors or transfers or bank one or more for next year.

Dayton hosted Wright State graduate transfer Mark Alstork on Monday and is reportedly among teams recruiting 2017 point guard Aaron Thompson of Fairfax, Va.
