Washington Nationals center fielder Adam Eaton, who was carried off the field Friday, has a torn left ACL and will not play again this season, ESPN reported.

The Kenton Ridge High and Miami University alum sustained the injury in the ninth inning of a loss to the New York Mets on a play at first base. He hit a roller to the left side, barely beat the throw, then collapsed.

The 28-year-old outfielder is hitting .297 with a .393 on-base percentage. Eaton reached base safely in 20 of 23 games.
