HS Results 8/22: Carroll boys soccer tops Tecumseh

In their first match of the season, the Carroll boys soccer team emerged victorious, besting Tecumseh 4-1.

Mitchell Solle kicked off the scoring for Carroll, netting back-to-back goals for the Patriots.

The first was unassisted and the second came off an assist from Chris Moon.

Alex Arevalos attempted to rally back for Tecumseh, netting the third goal of the game and cutting Carroll’s lead in half, but the effort wasn’t enough.

Carroll’s Sean Dosedel would tally off of an assist from Connor Osterholt and Jace Greer rounded out the scoring with the fourth and final goal for Carroll.

The win moves Carroll to 1-0-0 on the season and drops Tecumseh to 0-1-0.

Boys Soccer

Northeastern 5, Emmanuel Christian 1: Skylar Davis netted a hat trick for Northeastern, while teammate Landon Birmele chipped in two goals. Sam Franzen, Noah Fenton and Landon Birmele had the assists. Daniel Wenger scored the lone goal for Emmanuel Christian, assisted by Thomas Mullins.

Temple Christian 4, Cory Rawson 0: Cameron Worshman, Seth Ward, Isaac Lee and Brody Bowman each scored for Temple Christian. Ethan DeLeon, Seth Ward and Jacob Holloway tallied the assists.

Lehman Catholic 7, Fairlawn 0: Senior Jake Emrick netted all seven goals for Lehman Catholic, breaking the school’s single-game record in the process. Michael Denning tallied three assists, Ethan Potts chipped in two and Conor O’ Leary and Ryan Goettemoeller chipped in one a piece. Ryan Goettemoeller and Mikkel Alvavrez combined in goal for the shutout.

Milton Union 5, Newton 1: Dilhoff scored two goals for Milton Union in their win over Newton. Daum, Ezerski and Besecker each chipped in an additional goal. Koble netted the lone goal for Newton. West Liberty-Salem 3, Urbana 1: Ian Wolfe led West Liberty-Salem with two goals and teammate Neil Markin tacked on one. Elias Kirker-Napiorkowski had seven saves to record the win.

Beavercreek 6, Lebanon 2: R. Bernt, V. Ernst, E. Williams, K. Davis, H. Jackson and J. Tower each tallied a goal for Beavercreek. J. Westerkamp, J. Fleck, J. Ackserson and K. Davis added on the assists.

Girls Soccer

Miamisburg 9, West Carrollton 0: Brianna Schaaf had 31 saves in the West Carrollton loss.

Bellefontaine 5, Piqua 2: Caitlyn Shumaker netted all five goals for Bellefontaine in their victory.

Springfield 2, Stebbins 1: Annmeri Turner scored the first goal for Springfield, while Lily Foley netted her first varsity goal to win the game for Springfield. Natalie Shaffer recorded her first career win with 12 saves. Kate Johnson had the lone goal for Stebbins.

Northeastern 7, Emmanuel Christian 2: Senior Maggie Nesselroade chipped in the two goals for Emmanuel Christian in their loss.

Coldwater 5, Delphos St. Johns 0: Maura Hoying chipped in a hat trick for Coldwater in their shutout victory. Janelle Halterman also scored for Coldwater. Grace Bruns recorded the shutout win with five saves.

Anna 7, Spencerville 0: Savannah Hostetler earned the shutout victory with two saves. Kelsie McKinney netted two goals for Anna, while Emily Albers, Rylie Edwards, Abby Gaydosh, Taylor Noll and Adrienne Endlsey each tacked on one.

Mechanicsburg 5, Marion Harding 1: Tori Jacobs and Maggie Blanton tallied two goals each for Mechanicsburg in their win. Kasey Schipfer chipped in the additional fifth goal. Morgan Hamby had three saves and recorded the win.

Milton Union 4, Brookville 0: Kristen Dickison recorded two goals and an assist in the shutout victory. Morgan Nemeth and Karissa Baird chipped in a goal apiece.

Carlisle 5, National Trail 0: Kayla Shackelford and Christa Harris each netted two goals. Shackelford also tallied two assists, while Harris added on one. Skyler Kidwell rounded out the scoring with one goal.

Girls Tennis

Sidney 5, Xenia 0: Hailey New, Naomi Riegel, Madison Frank (singles),

Caroline Gallimore/Auanna Edens and Mara Hecht/Sara Gibson all won their sets to sweep the match for Sidney.

Tecumseh 3, Bellefontaine 2: Ashley Fite had the lone singles win for Tecumseh, while the doubles teams of Beel/Bush and Maxwell/Stacy swept the doubles sets to win the match for Tecumseh. Lindsay Stevenson and Sierra Bensman each won their singles sets for Bellefontaine.

Troy 5, Fairborn 0: Katie Sherrick, Emma Kazmaier, McKenzie Nosker (singles), Jackie Fuller/Hailey Taylor and Cady Rhea/Kit Wolke (doubles) all won their sets to sweep Fairborn.

Oakwood 5, Monroe 0: Lily McCloskey, Natalie Connelly, Agatha Shafer (singles), Katie Ritschell/Sophia Russell and Sidney Purks/Beth Lloyd (doubles) all won their sets to sweep Monroe.

Badin 4, Madeira 1: J. Link, J. Miller (singles), M. Sabourin/M. Richards and A. Suttner/C. Fields (doubles) all won their sets to defeat Madeira. M. Wu had the lone singles win for Madeira.

Badin 5, Taylor 0: G. Barrington, J. Link, J. Miller (singles), M. Sabourin/M. Richards and C. Fields/A. Suttner (doubles) all won their sets to sweep Taylor.

Boys Golf

Brookville 167, Bellbrook 193: Parker Holt medaled for Brookville with a 39 on the night. Kyle Neff was right behind with a 40 and Ben Smith followed up with a 43. Zach Crampton led Bellbrook with a 45.

West Liberty-Salem 165, Triad 203: Tyler Gardner led with a 39, medaling overall. Patrick Herr and Max Eggleston followed closely with a 40 and 41 respectively. Creighton Bradley led Triad with a 46.

Troy 160, Sidney 185: Holden Scribner, Nate Uhlenbrock and Jared Lindsey were co-medalists, each scoring a 37.

Fairfield 167, Cincinnati Christian 208: Mason Hamilton was the medalist for Fairfield, scoring an even par 36 on the red course at Hamilton Elks.

Covington 195, National Trail 233: Chris Brubaker led the scoring for National Trail, chipping in a 48. Austin Knapp shot a season low 55 for National Trail in their loss. Andrew Slusher medaled for Covington with a 39.

Harrison 169, Talawanda 179: Sam Bischel medaled for Harrison with a two-over par 38. Tyler Begley (T) and Will Nieman (H) rounded on the scoring with a 43 each.

Middletown Christian 180, Dixie 225: Josh Swartz medaled on the night with a 41. Jackson Ottke followed with a 43. Sam Kobert and Carter Stout each had a 46 for Middletown Christian and Dixie respectively.

Greeneview 184, Southeastern 186, Legacy Christian 213: Avery Green was the medalist on the night with a 35 for Southeastern. Mason Witt shot a 38 for Greeneview while Eli Beekman tacked on a 46.

Girls Golf

Spg. Shawnee 211, Graham 254: Elly Deerwester was the low scorer on the night with a 47.

Valley View 198, Waynesville 222: Heidi Brown medaled for Valley View, leading with a 44.

Bellefontaine 198, Miami East 223: Paige Lawson led Miami East with a 47 on the night. Emily Rowley followed with a 58 and Annaliese Logan and Maci Krites each tacked on a 59.

Girls Volleyball

Centerville 3, Fenwick 2: Dani Sargent led with 11 kills for Centerville, while teammate MacKenzie Connor tacked on 14 digs.

Carroll 3, West Carrollton 0: Carroll bested West Carrollton in three sets, 27-25, 25-18 and 25-16. Olivia Wright led Carroll with 23 assists, while Mary Kate Fleisher tacked on 14 kills.

Union City 3, Ansonia 2: Union City took the first set 25-22, but Ansonia rallied back, taking the next two 25-17 and 25-19. Unfortunately, Ansonia couldn’t hold on and Union City won the last two sets 25-21 and 17-15 to win the match.

Cedarville 3, Greeneview 1: Cedarville took the match in four sets. Sara Beste led with 26 kills, two assists, one ace and seven defensive digs. Eva Sheridan tacked on 17 defensive digs and Abigail Sheridan added on 10 kills and eight aces. Kalley Shulz rounded out the scoring with 34 assists, two kills and seven defensive digs.

Coldwater 3, Lima Shawnee 0: Tasha Kahlig led with 10 kills and two aces. Lauren Gilliland tacked on nine kills and five blocks, while Oliva Harlamert added on eight kills and eight digs. Elena Knapke had 38 assists.

Bellbrook 3, Tecumseh 1: Neal led with 15 kills and 10 digs, while Merkle tacked on 10 kills. Rogers added on an additional 22 digs.

Catholic Central 3, Southeastern 0: Lohnes led with 12 kills and four digs, while DeWitt tallied four aces, 24 assists, three kills and nine digs. O’Connor rounded out the scoring with seven digs and eight kills.

Alter 3, Lakota East 0: Cunningham led Alter with 11 blocks, while Binzer tacked on nine digs, three aces and 25 assists.

Fairborn 3, Trotwood 0: Kayleigh Finlayson led the team offensively with seven kills, 10 digs and an ace. Eryn Thomas tacked on five kills. Hani Sampson also tallied five kills, but added on 11 digs and two aces.

West Liberty-Salem 3, Triad 0: Kaylee Harrison led with 11 kills, 18 digs and one block, going 13-for-14 on serves. Tory Cordell was close behind with nine kills, 10 digs, three aces and one block, while also going 13-for-14 on serves. Sydnee Payer tacked on six kills and six digs.

Centerville 3, Wayne 0: Centerville swept the sets 25-8, 25-16 and 28-26. Scottee Johnson led with eight kills.

Eaton 3, Dixie 1: Eaton dropped the first set 24-26, but game back to win the next three 25-15, 25-14 and 25-14.

Tippecanoe 3, Sidney 0: Aselage led with 12 kills. Stewart tacked on eight kills and four blocks. Crow netted 26 assists.
