H.S. Results for 1/18/17: Centerville girls win a thriller

Centerville’s Meghan Mattingly calmly sank the front end of a double bonus free throw opportunity with 0.4 seconds remaining in the second overtime Wednesday night, lifting Centerville to a heart-stopping 51-50 victory over Lebanon in Greater Western Ohio Conference girls basketball.

Mattingly’s free throw, the last of her 9 points, allowed the Elks (11-4) to win their sixth in a row.

Sam Chable led Centerville with 17 points and Victoria Harrison added 10. Lebanon (10-4) got 22 points and 8 rebounds from Alexis Straw, 14 from Alex Warning and 6 points and 10 rebounds from Rachel Perry.

Girls Basketball

Beavercreek 53, Miamisburg 26: Cori Dilsavor scored 13 points, Keaira Youngblood 11, as Beavercreek climbed to 11-4. She'mya Leigh of Miamisburg led all scorers with 16.

Bellbrook 71, Brookville 18: Brooklynn Hall scored 19, Cassidy Hofacker 14 for Bellbrook (12-2), which allowed only 4 points in the middle two quarters. Katlin Pistone scored 10 for Brookville.

Edgewood 52, Harrison 25: Lexie Sparks and Lauren Gerber scored 13 points each as Edgewood (13-1, 7-0) remained unbeaten in the Southwest Ohio Conference. Sammi Wilkins scored a team-high 7 points for Harrison.

Greenon 54, Indian Lake 45: Reagan Ware (15), Lydia Henry (14) and Delaney Benedict (11) all reached double figures for Greenon, which outscored Indian Lake, 22-13, in the fourth quarter.

Kenton Ridge 87, Urbana 31: Jamari McDavid scored 39 as Kenton Ridge claimed a lopsided victory in the Central Buckeye Conference. McDavid was 9-for-9 on free throws and scored 15 points in the second quarter alone. Desiree Jones added 14 and Mikala Morris 13 for Kenton Ridge. Hunter Rogan's 17 points and 8 rebounds were tops for Urbana.

New Miami 40, St. Bernard 31: Alyssa Robinette scored 14 for New Miami (10-6).

Sidney 60, Fairborn 48, OT: Kaylie Cook scored a career-high 22 for Fairborn, but the Skyhawks fell after Khala Powell's layup had sent the game into overtime.

Tecumseh 62, Spg. Shawnee 42: Corinne Thomas scored 31 for Tecumseh (13-2).

Tippecanoe 56, Stebbins 54: Tippecanoe held off a furious rally by Stebbins (11-3), which trailed, 49-32, entering the fourth quarter. Alyssa Bowman's 3-point goal from the right side with 8.3 seconds to play pulled Stebbins within 2, but Tippecanoe (12-2) held on to the ball until time expired. Bryanna Bransford led Stebbins with 18 points and Bowman added 15. Allison Mader scored 22 and Taylor Prall 15 for Tipp.

Wayne 54, Springboro 50: Wayne outscored Springboro, 19-11, in the pivotal third quarter. Shai McGruder led the Warriors (12-3) with 14 points and Mya Dinson added 12. Jordan Diehl scored 13 and Kaylie Crouch 12 for Springboro (11-4).

New Miami 63, Mt. Auburn International Academy 34: New Miami picked up its second win behind Austin Howard (14 points) and Ronnie Bowman (13 points, 12 rebounds).
