H.S. Results for 1/5/17: Coldwater’s Diller unstoppable in victory

Coldwater’s Kourtney Diller came out shooting Thursday night, dropping in five 3-point goals in the first quarter during a 57-40 girls basketball victory over New Knoxville.

Diller had 17 points after the first quarter, finishing with 29 and seven 3-pointers as Coldwater climbed to 8-2 overall, 2-1 in the Midwest Athletic Conference.

Kenzie Scoroer scored 11 and Ashley Miller 10 for New Knoxville (5-7, 1-2), which trailed, 20-6, after Diller’s big first quarter.

Girls Basketball

Fort Loramie 31, Jackson Center 24: Hattie Meyer's four steals included a key pick and bucket that widened Fort Loramie's lead from 2 points to 4. Reyan Frey led Fort Loramie (8-3, 4-1) with 10 points.

Fort Recovery 65, St. Henry 44: Fort Recovery (7-0, 3-0) is one of three Midwest Athletic Conference teams still undefeated in league play. Whitney Will and Jocelyn Kaiser scored 22 each and Carley Stone had 7 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists for Fort Recovery, which led by 28 in the third quarter. Kendra Rose topped St. Henry (5-7, 1-2) with 15 points.

Franklin 52, Eaton 49: Franklin was led by Layne Ferrell (19) and Kristen Earles (11), Eaton by Emily Dungan (14), Bailee Worlee (10) and Becca Mowen (10).

Franklin Monroe 47, Tri-County North 25: Belle Cable's 20 points and Corina Conley's 15 helped the Jets go to 8-3, 4-2.

Marion Local 47, New Bremen 30: Macey Griesdorn scored 18, Natalie Rethman 15 for Marion Local (5-5, 1-1).

Milton-Union 50, Oakwood 40: Maddie Brown scored 18 and Milton-Union broke away from a halftime tie with a 19-9 third quarter to earn a Southwestern Buckeye League win. Taylor Jacobs contributed 9 points and 9 rebounds for Milton-Union (6-3, 2-1). Kyndall Ketterer scored 13 for Oakwood (3-7, 1-4).

Minster 41, Delphos St. John's 20: Minster sank 9 of 13 free throws and ran its record to 9-0.

National Trail 52, Mississinawa Valley 45: National Trail moved to 7-4, 2-2 as Savanna Abner and Makena Laird scored 17 each.

Russia 79, Fairlawn 18: Five players reached double figures for Russia (10-1): Maria Herron (15), Jenna Cordonner (14), Larissa Poling (14), Cameo Wilson (14) and Tiffany Hatcher (13). Russia was 19-for-22 at the line.

Southeastern 54, Triad 29: Southeastern's Maddy McKee set a school record with her 167th career 3-point goal as Southeastern climbed to 8-2, 5-1.

Versailles 66, Parkway 21: Elizabeth Ording (14 points) was one of 11 players who scored for Versailles.

West Liberty-Salem 52, Madison Plains 17: West Liberty-Salem led, 47-8, after three quarters.

Sidney 2292, Stebbins 2002: Sidney is 7-0, 4-0, thanks to Josh Abbott (456 series), Austin Simon (441) and Damion Phillis (256 game).

Southeastern 2309, West Liberty-Salem 2013: Mike Price (204) had the top game for WL-S.

Sidney 2249, Stebbins 1877: Sidney's Jenna Beatty set a school record with her 266-266=532 series. The former two-game record was 526, by Jenna Shaffer.
