HS Results for 8/17: Oakwood girls tennis tops Centerville

In a close match, Oakwood’s girls tennis team edged out Centerville, three sets to two.

Oakwood swept the singles matchups, while Centerville took both doubles.

At 1st Singles, Lily McCloskey took home the win, defeating Ariel Aloppott 6-0, 6-3.

Natalie Connelly dominated at 2nd Singles, besting Anu Pddereddi 6-0, 6-0.

The 3rd Singles matchup became a little more competive as Agatha Shafer topped Grace Jiong in a tiebreaker round, going 6-0, 4-6, 6-1.

Milena Aloppott and Samira Dahliwal defeated Sophie Schnell and Sidney Purks 2-2 in a retired match to secure the 1st Doubles win for Centerville.

The 2nd Doubles team of MT Camp and Madeline Mills beat Katie Ritschel and Sophia Russell in another tiebreaker match – 5-7, 6-2, 6-2, to win another set for Centerville.

Oakwood will face Preble Shawnee at home on Friday, August 18th.

Boys Golf

Fairlawn 213, Botkins 219: Luke Hickman shot a 47 to lead Fairlawn while Nick Fischio had the overall low score of a 45 for Botkins.

Covington 194, Bethel 196: Andrew Slusher was the overall leading scorer, shooting a 37 for Covington. Teammate Grant Humphrey followed behind with a 44. Braden Rowley led Bethel with a 47, while teammates Austin Bird and Adam Donahue each chipped in a 48.

Fort Loramie 170, Anna 172: Mitchell Puthoff and Jared Middendorf both shot a 41 for Fort Loramie, while teammate Zach Pleiman followed close behind with a 42. Eli Kuck led Anna with a 41 and Cole Maurer chipped in a 42.

Greenon 187, Greeneview 205: Beau Blasé shot a 51 for Greenon in their win. Zack Knaur, Ian Anderson, Blake Weatherholt, Michael Mitchem and Dillon Schmitt each tacked on a 55. Mason Witt led Greeneview with a 48, while Matt Hovan chipped in a 55.

Coldwater 179, New Knoxville 198: Andrew Fisher led Coldwater, shooting a 43. Alex Wourms and Trey Wolters were close behind, chipping in a 44 and an 45 respectively. Nate Tinnerman led New Knoxville with a 48, while Ray Newton tacked on a 49 and Jack Bartholomew added on a 50.

Fairfield 160, Lebanon 173: Luke McFarland medaled for Fairfield, shooting 3-over par 39. Hamilton and Kellum each tacked on a 40 for Fairfield.

Madison Plains 180, Catholic Central 201: Bowshier led with a 39 for Madison Plains, while teammate Gammell followed closely behind with a 41. Hanna shot a 46 for Catholic Central, while Windle chipped in a 49.

Twin Valley South 188, National Trail 229: Nathan Osborn medaled for Twin valley South, shooting a 37 on the night. Chris Brubaker led National Trail with a 52, followed by Austin Knapp with a 57.

Xenia 184, Fairborn 213: Trey Boedicker led Fairborn with a 50, while Tanner Souders chipped in a 51. Adam Pelfrey and Giana Pico tacked on a 57 and a 55 respectively.

Fairbanks 162, Northeastern 186, West Liberty-Salem 193: Max Eggleston led West Liberty-Salem with a 44, while Tyler Gardner tacked on a 45.

Girls Tennis

Valley View 4, Middletown 1: Marissa Gilbert, Porscha Fleming (singles), Skylar Shane/Summer Staiger and Callista Kinney/Elaina Benton (doubles) all won their sets to win the match for Valley View. Arianna Layne had the lone win for Middletown.
