H.S. Results for 2/22: Southeastern advances to sectional final

Jessica Erwin scored 24 points for Southeastern in a 55-45 win over Yellow Springs in a Division IV girls basketball sectional semifinal at Brookville on Wednesday.

Maddy McKee added 17 points for SE, including five three-point baskets.

Liz Smith paced Yellow Springs with 21 points and Morgan Minnich added 13.

Southeastern advances to a Saturday sectional final against Covington, which knocked off Twin Valley South 59-35 on Wednesday.

Covington 59, Twin Valley South 35: Samantha Whiteman carried Covington with 16 points. Mylan Crews had 10 points for TVS.

Fort Loramie 55, Ansonia 32: Sara Stang tallied 15 points with eight rebounds and Fort Loramie went on a 19-4 run in the third quarter to put the game out of reach for Ansonia.

New Bremen 50, Waynesfield-Goshen 48: Jane Homan scored 15 points and Kayla Bergman 12 to help New Bremen edge WG.

New Knoxville 34, Lincolnview 30: Kenzie Schroer recorded 15 points for New Knoxville.

Russia 54, Mechanicsburg 40: Laurissa Poling put up 20 points in leading Russia. Mikayla Dodane tallied 19 points for Mechanicsburg.

Dawsin Tillman of Bellefontaine and Jace Underwood of Urbana split player of the year honors for the Kenton Trail division and Kurt Waters of Northwestern took the award in the Mad River division. Jameel Cosby (Kenton Ridge), Billy Lord (Spg. Shawnee), Clay Mastin (Tecumseh), Levi Boettcher (Urbana), Mitchell Fink (Ben Logan), Andrew Ford (Graham), Collin Coburn (Indian Lake), Kale Shoffner (Indian Lake) and Ryan Cleland (Northwestern) made up the rest of the first team.

Southwestern Buckeye League

Peyton Knott of Franklin earned player of the year honors for the SWBL. Franklin finished 11-1 in the conference and 18-4 overall.
