Siri extends hitting streak

Jose Siri continues the magic. The Dragons outfielder doubled inside the third base bag in the top of the fith inning in Lansing Friday night, extending his hitting streak to 33 games.

The hit came in Siri’s third at-bat of the night against the Lugnuts. He had grounded out in each of his first two trips to the plate.

The 33-game streak is the longest in the Midwest League in the last 40 years. Siri is still two games shy of the all-time Midwest League record that was set in 1977.

Siri extended the streak on the same day he was named by Baseball America as one of the top 10 prospects in all of minor league baseball in relation to power and speed. Jose was 10th on that list with 18 home runs and 29 stolen bases.

Siri wasn’t the only Dragons player on the list. Taylor Trammell was ranked eighth in the minor leagues. The 19-year-old has eight home runs and 28 stolen bases.
