Browns Pro Bowl tackle Joe Thomas hopes the team doesn’t rush rookie quarterback DeShone Kizer. Thomas said Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2017, he believes the team is grooming Brock Osweiler to start the season opener on Sept. 10 against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Thomas has been impressed with Kizer, the second-round pick from Notre Dame who had an impressive preseason debut last week, but thinks it will be better for him to begin the season in a backup role.

DeShone Kizer won’t lose the quarterback competition without a fight.

Kizer outplayed Brock Osweiler on the national stage Monday night, ending in a Browns 10-6 win over the Giants.

Kizer finished 8 of 13 for 74 yards with five rushes for 35 yards.

Social media is becoming increasingly excited about Kizer as the future of Browns football; a future that may be closer than we think.
