Team awards handed out to Reds at Redsfest

Joey Votto was named Cincinnati Reds team MVP during Friday night's team award presentation at Redsfest.

Votto, who was second in the National League MVP vote, won the ward for the second consecutive year and for the sixth time. He played all 162 games for the Reds, hitting .320 with 34 doubles, 36 home runs and 100 RBIs.

Raisel Iglesias was given the Johnny Vander Meer Most Outstanding Pitcher Award. Iglesias led the team’s bullpen with a 2.49 ERA in 63 games with 28 saves, 92 strikeouts and 27 walks.

Eugenio Suarez was given the Joe Nuxhall Good Guy Award by the local Baseball Writer’s of America Association. Third baseman and 2016 No. 1 draft pick Nick Senzel was named Minor League Player of the Year named in honor of Sheldon “Chief” Bender. Minor league hitter of the year was Jose Siri, who played 2017 with the Dayton Dragons. Tyler Mahle was minor league pitcher of the year while Dragon Aaron Fossas was given the minor league community service award.
