7 things you may have missed from Week 5 of high school football

1. Madison and Oakwood may have played the game of the week. The two combined for over 900 total yards as the Mohawks improved to 4-1 with a 47-37 victory. Cameron Svarda and Tyler Baumgartner both ran for over 100 yards for Madison while Oakwood's Brian Erbe threw for 378 yards and three touchdowns.

2. After Troy took a late 17-14 lead, Miamisburg rallied to beat the Trojans on a 19-yard touchdown pass from Tate Vongsy to Tyler Johnson with eight seconds left. That dropped left both teams 4-1.

3. The Trojans were one of several area teams to suffer their first loss of the season, joining Bellbrook, Valley View, Troy Christian and Springfield Catholic Central. Nine area football teams remain unbeaten, including 4-0-1 Wayne in Division I. In D-III, Franklin and St. Marys Memorial have unblemished records, as to Alter in D-IV, Coldwater in D-V, Mechanicsburgh in D-VI and Covington in D-VII.

4. Valley View's first loss came at the hands of Franklin, which got 361 total yards from quarterback Ryan Montgomery while rolling to a 41-8 victory Friday night.

5. The regular season is only half over, but Sidney junior Isaiah Bowser has already reached a milestone: He went over 1,000 yards rushing on the season with 135 yards and four touchdowns as the Yellow Jackets beat West Carrollton 53-22. Bowser leads the GWOC in rushing with 1,065 yards.

6. One week after winning in dramatic fashion, Springfield ended up on the other end of the spectrum against Lebanon. Danny Davis caught an 11-yard touchdown pass from Leonard Taylor with 17 seconds left to draw the Wildcats within a point at 28-27, but a two-point conversion attempt failed and the Warriors prevailed.

7. Alter smashed Fenwick 52-3 to avenge a pair of losses from last season. The Knights got two touchdowns apiece from Holden Rushing and Trent Wilson.
