7 things you missed from Week 2 of the OHSAA football playoffs

1. Miamisburg beat Troy 28-21 in another thriller.

The Trojans capitalized on two turnovers to take a 21-14 lead in the second half, but the Vikings rallied to win on Jake Neatherton’s 40-yard touchdown midway through the fourth quarter.

Troy’s only two losses of the season were to the Vikings.

2. Mechanicsburg crushed Delphos Jefferson 56-20.

The Indians ran for 464 yards to improve to 12-0 and get a shot at old nemesis Marion Local next week. Mechanicsburg had eight possessions and scored eight touchdowns.

3. Alter continued its march by dominating Clinton-Massie 28-0.

The undefeated Knights held the Falcons below 100 total yards and gave them their first shut out since 2006.

4. Wayne again received little challenge from a central Ohio opponent.

After walloping Lancaster 52-7 in the first round of the playoffs, the Warriors jumped out to a 31-0 lead against Dublin Coffman on Friday night en route to a 52-10 win.

5. Trotwood-Madison gave the GWOC three teams in the regional finals by trouncing New Richmond 47-10.

Markell Stephens-Peppers threw three touchdown passes and Raveion Hargrove ran for two more for the Rams.

6. Greeneview’s upset bid came up just short against Coldwater.

The Rams led for most of the game against the defending Division V state champions, but the Cavaliers went on top 27-24 on Neal Muhlenkamp’s 16-yard touchdown run with 7:52 left in the fourth quarter. They held on by partially blocking a Greeneview field goal attempt from only 21 yards out with 1:30 to play.

7. Minster and Fort Recovery also give the MAC three teams in the regional finals.

They are set to play each other this weekend after the Wildcats cruised past Upper Scioto Valley 41-8 and the Indians handled Covington 42-14.
