This Week in Bengals history: Jan. 1

The Bengals have played two times on Jan. 1 and are 0-2.

Here is a quick glance at each of those games:

Jan. 1, 2006 – Kansas City Chiefs 37, Cincinnati Bengals 3 at Arrowhead Stadium

Locked into the No. 3 seed with their first division championship since 1990, the Bengals rested their starters and suffered one of the most lopsided losses in franchise history as Chiefs running back Larry Johnson ran for 201 yards and three touchdowns to help Kansas City to a 537 to 161 edge in total yards.

Jan. 1, 2012 – Baltimore Ravens 24, Cincinnati Bengals 16 at Paul Brown Stadium

Baltimore’s Ray Rice had touchdown runs of 71 and 50 yards to put the Bengals’ playoff hopes in peril, but a Jets loss to Miami enabled Cincinnati to earn the final wild-card spot and head to the playoffs behind rookies Andy Dalton and A.J. Green.
