Toledo halts Miami’s three-game winning streak

Career days for a pair of players wasn’t enough Saturday for the Miami RedHawks.

Despite 25 points from Logan McLane and 20 from Rod Mills Jr., the RedHawks dropped a 91-76 Mid-American Conference game on the road against Toledo. The loss snapped a three-game winning streak for Miami (8-7, 1-1).

Jake Wright and Marcus Weathers added nine points apiece and Michael Weathers dished out a career-high nine assists.

The Rockets had a double-digit lead about six minutes into the game and built a 42-28 halftime lead. Taylor made a pair of free throws that stretched the lead to 74-49 with just under 12 minutes to play. The RedHawks cut the deficit to 14 but didn’t get closer.

Jonathan Williams scored 25 points and Jaelan Sanford added 22 and Toledo, which improved to 9-6, 2-0 with its fifth straight win.

Williams was 7-of-11 shooting and made four 3-pointers. Sanford made 8 of 13 field goals and has scored in double figures in seven of his last eight games. Nate Navigato added 17 points, and Steve Taylor Jr. had 12 points and 12 rebounds for Toledo.

Miami returns to action Tuesday at Ball State.
